USB DETECTION GUIDE

Hotspot Not Detected by USB? SMT Setup Guide

A powered hotspot can charge over USB without exposing the interface needed for a repair. Check the connection before starting a paid operation.

1. Check the cable and power

Use a USB data cable and connect the modem directly to the PC. Charging-only cables do not provide a data connection. Keep the modem powered and follow the model-specific battery instructions.

2. Connect one modem at a time

During detection and enrollment, disconnect other modems so you can verify the selected device. Read the model shown by the tool before continuing.

3. Choose the USB mode required by the task

USB Internet, diagnostic, ADB and firmware-download interfaces are different. Follow the tool instructions for the chosen service. Do not assume that a normal file-transfer connection is the correct repair mode.

4. Check Windows Device Manager

Look for the modem interface and any driver warning. Use the driver and installation instructions supplied for your exact model. Renaming an interface or forcing an unrelated driver does not enable a missing device service.

5. Follow the matching video guide

Choose your exact model from the video library. If detection still fails, contact support with the model, firmware, Windows version and exact error; do not send passwords or token codes.

Common questions

The modem charges. Why is it not detected?

Charging confirms power, not a working USB data connection. Check the cable, USB mode and the interface required by the selected operation.

Should I flash firmware to fix a detection problem?

Do not start a firmware flash just to experiment. First check the cable, power, required mode and matching model instructions.
