REMOTE MODS SETUP GUIDE
How to Set Up SMT Remote Modem Repairs
Start with the supported remote model directory, enroll through SMT Hotspot Tool, then use the same account on the website to manage the modem.
1. Confirm remote compatibility
Open the Remote Mods page and review its model directory. A model supported for local repairs is not automatically supported for remote enrollment.
2. Sign in and review the device plan
Use your SMT account in the tool and website. Review the current monthly device-plan price, eligible discounts and any repair charges before purchasing the account-linked Remote Token.
3. Add and verify the modem
Connect one supported powered-on modem using the required setup connection. Select Add device, enter a recognizable name and complete the firmware check. Confirm that the detected modem is the one you intend to enroll.
4. Redeem the token and finish installation
Enter the Remote Token from your account and wait for setup validation. A reserved or partially installed token is not proof that installation finished; follow the result shown by the tool.
5. Check it from the website
Sign in to the same SMT account and open Remote Mods. Verify the device name, model and last reported status. Start with a free reading check before requesting a paid repair.
6. Keep device access current
Keep the modem powered, online and on an eligible plan. Rename or remove it using the device controls when appropriate. A device transferred to someone else must follow the supported enrollment process.
Common questions
Where is my Remote Token?
Find your account-linked token in the account portal and delivery email. Never share it in a public support message.
Why is the modem online but remote repairs unavailable?
Connection status and eligibility are separate. Check setup validation, the monthly device plan and the supported operations for that model.
